More details will be available in an upcoming Newsletter but some of the high points were: HUD will be using a cost estimator to verify and approve bid or over-allowable pricing.  No definite determination has been made regarding the final "approved" vendor so for now contractors can use any estimator they want.

HUD is also looking into the issue of storing personal property.  Lawsuits involving the removal of personals have been increasing so HUD is looking at reimbursement costs for storage and subsequent removal of personal items in an attempt to give former occupants more opportunity to retrieve their property.

Tarped roofs are not acceptable except perhaps in the case where an HOA refuses to let the servicers repair or replace the roof.  William Collins made it clear that no other condition, including snow, should prevent roof repairs or replacement.  There's much more to come so watch your email for your NAMFS Newsletter.
