NAMFS January 2021 Newsletter

NAMFS Board of Directors – Calling All Candidates   As a result of the pandemic the decision was made to extend the terms of those Directors that were to expire in September 2020.  NAMFS is excited to place a call to for those interested in providing leadership to the Association.  The open positions are for a single representative in the following membership categories:  National, Super Regional, Regional, Local and Associate/Affiliate.  Please submit your interest via email to admin@namfs.org no later than February 4, 2021. NAMFS will send a brief questionnaire to those that express interest.  We will convene our Nominating Committee in mid- February to review the candidates and their submissions.  The Committee will submit their recommendations to the Board for a vote at the February Board meeting with the intent of the new members commencing their term with the March 2021 meeting.

Moratorium Information The past week has been extremely busy/concerning for our Industry regarding moratoriums.  Late last Thursday, a potential stimulus plan was announced by then President-Elect Biden which spoke of extending the moratoriums through September 2021.  Then on Tuesday, it was announced that FHFA had decided to align the moratoriums for Fannie Mae & Freddie Mac with HUD which formalized an extension through February 2021.  Then on Wednesday, President Biden signed an Executive Order extending the moratoriums through March 2021.  This just speaks on the Federal level.  Many states have their own guidance with NY State announcing moratorium through April 2021.

RENEW Your Membership
NAMFS sent out membership renewal invoices which are now past dues.  Those that have not renewed will notice that even if logged-in they will be unable to access certain areas of the website and will no longer be listed in the Membership Directory.  We do realize there has been an issue with the Postal Service but would encourage you to contact us directly to renew your membership today!



NAMFS Attending CREF 21   Executive Director – Eric Miller will be attending this event which has added Servicing to this year’s event in early February.  CLICK HERE for more information about the event.

Get Involved! The Board of Directors has named Brandon Kirkham as Chair for the Government Relations Committee. If you are interested in participating on this committee please email admin@namfs.org. The first meeting will be held in February.

$1,000 Scholarship for Students! Applications for 2021 James R. Duncan Memorial Scholarship are being accepted! The deadline for submission is July 31. The 2020 Scholarship recipient was Tess O’Donnell.  Who Qualifies? Students that are family members of a NAMFS member company or sub-contractors working for NAMFS member organizations. All events in 2021 are currently being planned as VIRTUAL.  NAMFS will utilize the VirBELA platform for these events as it offers a more interactive approach and was extremely successful for our 2020 Annual Conference.
